As we head into the next generation of consoles, the current digital ecosystem is in the middle of its most significant shakeup since the launch of Steam, Xbox Live, and PSN in the mid-to-late 2000s. Nevertheless, the rise of the Epic Games Store is only one part of a much larger story. Epic isn't just the developer of one of the biggest games of 2018, its engine is used in everything from Kingdom Hearts 3 to Octopath Traveler.
